Ghosts by Dolly Anderton 4⭐️

This is a poignant read and I found the story a little depressing. There is not much happiness in this story and felt it unfinished. It is a good read, just don’t expect a warm fuzzy with this one. 

Too Good To Be Real by Melonie Johnson 5⭐️

 

Loved this book. So much more than a rom com. The story is not only fun but has depth and all the feels. We meet Julia, Luke and the supporting characters and their side kicks, which include sweet corgis and a conniving pair of sea gulls. Add this one to the top of your TBR list, it is not to be missed.

Pug Actually by Matt Dunn 3⭐️

 

I really tried to like this story. All the correct hooks were there, but it fell short. Not a totally bad read, it is missing the link that makes it real and enjoyable. This one skipped me completely.

In Your Dreams by Julia Kent 5⭐️

 

This is a re-run of my first read and  beginning love of all books “Julia Kent”, with “more” story added.  I had forgotten how much enjoyment I had reading this series. This novella is just a taste of this series. Grab this one and then pick up the series.  A definite addition to your TBR list. 

Deathtoll by Dana Marton 5⭐️

 

Excellent addition to the Broslin series. We circle back to Murph and Kate in this book. I have to admit, I was a little “put out” with Kate in a couple of places, but all came together, with a bang. Enjoy this romantic drama, you will love it.

Legacy by Nora Roberts, 5⭐️

 This newest book has all the “Nora Roberts feels”.  A slow romance, which after much tribulations, blooms. There is of course, the angst, danger and mystery always included in Nora’s books, but the story also is warm, caring and heart wrenching in places. Add this to your top TBR list. Don’t miss it.

A Good Day for Chardonnay by Darynda Jones 5⭐️

 

Second in this new series and there is so much happening in this story, I found myself slowing down to grab all the nuances, much is buried among the humor and snark. Enjoyed this book, the Sunshine family and interactions are making me anticipate the next installment.  A definite add to your TBR list.

Family turmoil and drama abound in this newest book. The coming of age for three women, all grown yet each still struggling with their childhood trauma and the constant circling of bad decisions and current situations makes this story excel with keeping the reader involved.  One of my top reads this year. Do not miss this one.

If you don’t like cliffhangers, wait until Reign, the next book is out and purchase the whole series. However, whether you buy the whole series or each as published, don’t miss this one. A swashbuckling read!  And it should be a tv series. Grab the series, a definite add to the TBR and listen list.

Loved this book, my favorite book so far written by these two authors.  Fell hard for these characters Fizzy, Juno, Jess and River and their quirks, love, friendship and romance make this one of my top reads this year. Grab this for your TBR list.

Deeply disturbing, unputdownable read. The reader catches on early to the dark, wrecked mind and sharp intelligence, rolled into this intoxicating story. This is an excellent read and expect this book to mess with your mind. No sweetness here.

Stefanie London has become one of my favorite authors, she never disappoints. This is an exceptional read, the two main characters are realistic and human, each with their own problems, one seeking answers, the other just surviving. Taking a bullet or a knife, I can do.

But soothing a terrified, sobbing, otherwise competent woman is not something I’ve often—ever—accomplished successfully, nor have I ever found myself in many situations in which it was necessary.

I stroke her back, and gradually, they both cry themselves out.

Which is good, because seeing a chink in Peach’s armor is bloody terrifying.

“Papaya,” she says, her voice thick and wobbly, “you’re on kitchen duty for the next four weeks.”

“What?”

“And if you get fired by the chef, you’ll be on maid duty. And if you get fired by the maids, you’ll be shoveling shit in the stables. And you don’t get to see Fred until your chores are done.”

I suck in a surprised breath.

Papaya gasps. “You can’t do that.”

“And if you don’t show up for kitchen duty, you won’t be going to Joey’s wedding next weekend.” She swipes at her eyes, which silences any objections I might have to keeping track of Papaya whilst Peach is away for a week. “You scared the ever-loving patootles out of me. I thought you were kidnapped. And instead, you’re here, spooking the daylights out of these poor guards who were trained on an invalid king who couldn’t even get out of his own bed to pee.”

Ah. I’m beginning to see from whom Papaya gets her creativity.

And it hasn’t escaped my notice that Peach is still leaning on me.

My knees are going quite numb from squatting, but I could crouch here for hours if that was what was required to make her feel better.

“You have two choices.” Her voice is growing steadier, more Peach-like. “You do your punishment, and we’ll find you a better outlet for all your creative energy, or we’re going to have one hell of a rough year.”

Papaya scowls. Her tears have also left her. “I don’t like those choices.”

“They’re what you’ve got.”

“I want to go home and live with my daddy.”

Peach’s entire body goes so rigid, I have to stop myself from grabbing Papaya and dangling her by the ankle for being such an ungrateful arse.

“He lost the privilege to keep you.” Peach’s voice wobbles again. “Meemaw and me and Viktor and Alexander and Samuel are what you’ve got.”

An emotion I cannot name blooms in my chest, swells into my throat, and renders me momentarily tongue-tied.

She’s just claimed us all as family.

“Get up. I want that armor shined and sparkling before it goes back where it belongs in the tower study, and don’t you dare give me any lip, or you’ll be shining and sparkling every single suit of armor in this whole entire castle if you so much as think at me wrong.”

I swallow hard, wishing my own voice were not so much more husky than I intend it to be. It seems emotions are going around. “I believe there are fifty more stored in the dungeons, my lady.”

My shirt is damp and cold where the tears from Peach’s cheek have soaked through, I’ve nearly watched a teenage girl outwit and terrify an entire team of guards who were quite ready to maim, if not outright kill her, and I’m playing parent for the first time in my life.

Being a team.

With Peach.

It’s disconcerting at best.

Irresistibly attractive at worst.

I’ve a kingdom to run. There’s no time to fall for my wife.
